PAPER FLOWERS
, words and music by Tim PennIt didn't rain last Sunday, but the cool breeze kept me in.
Barren trees dropped their autumn leaves,
And gardens slept under winter winds.
Nothing was blooming, we'd have nothing til we had spring.
So I made you these paper flowers, they're all that I had to bring.
I don't know what's changing,
vain wishes that you'll always stay.
But you'll always have these paper flowers,
And I hope that they'll bloom someday.
Maybe then I'm a different me, and maybe you're a new you.
Falling in love was too short a romance,
And we finished before we were through. (solo)
Now I left last Monday, waiting for these flowers to grow.
I'm glad this chase ended with a warm embrace,
But it's just so hard to let go. And nothing was too secret,
In the words I still hear you say.
You'll always have these paper flowers,
And I hope that they'll bloom someday.
And I hope that they'll bloom someday.
